The Touch series is an investigation into how I can work within the structure of the gallery setting to encourage the audience to better understand my formal investigations in the ceramic medium.
So many of my concerns in my design and making process are not communicated until one touches the work.
Challenging the audience to touch my work in a context that is typically contradictory of this activity helps to communicate with the audience what making pots is about; at its core it is about use and how function becomes a vehicle for the engagement in the makers ideas… a conversation if you will.
The goal of this series is to take advantage of both the strengths of the gallery setting and the inherent ability of utilitarian objects to infiltrate everyday life.
