Train Wood Kiln - her name is Yorel, pronounced with a swedish accent
The train kiln is a contemporary take on the anagama, designed to mimic the effects of
the ancient anagama-style, creating the same amount of ash yet in a shorter amount of time with less
labour. For both anagama and train kilns, this genre of wood firing is all about maximizing or exploiting
the minerals in the wood by having the work interact directly with the melted ash, embers and flame to
create surface. This kiln utilizes ~4-5 cords of wood per firing, with continuous stoking for 36 – 60 hours.
